Alan is an experienced Myotherapist having begun his journey into the sports medicine field back in 2001. As a very promising junior distance runner having competed at both a State and National level both in Scotland and Australia, he suffered his first serious injury (compartment syndrome of the anterior leg). It was while receiving remedial massage treatment for this injury, that really peaked Alan’s interest in how he could learn more about the body, how it functions and how he could help others function better and THRIVE.

He started studying Sports Massage in 2001 and then studied Remedial Massage the following year. He then went on to do Myotherapy, further progressing his assessment and treatment knowledge.
Alan has experience working in a range of settings from Sports Medicine Clinics, Local and Elite Sporting Clubs (AFL – Richmond, Local clubs such as Mooroolbark Soccer Club, Healesville Soccer Club, Ringwood Athletics Club), Sporting Events ( Melbourne Marathon, Run Melbourne, Stawell Gift, World Masters Games) and working with athletes from grass roots to the elite.
He has a special interest in the assessment and management of runners, as well as those suffering; neck, lower back and hip pain.
Alan is big believer in prehab is better than rehab and has a strong focus on educating people on how to stay injury free; achieve their goals; recover well and enhance performance.
Outside of work Alan loves running, both training and racing, has a passion for Craft Beer and Whisky; travelling and spending time with his wife and 2 kids.
