Dietetics Services
What is a Dietitian and Sports Dietitian?
A Dietitian is an expert of food and nutrition, and how that affects the body.
They provide personalised and evidence-based nutrition advice to support you in your health journey, wellbeing, and stage of life.
A Sports Dietitian is a fully qualified Dietitian who specialises this knowledge of how food affects the body and applies it with the overall goal of improving physical performance and health.
How is it different from a Nutritionist?
A Dietitian can do everything that a nutritionist does, however a nutritionist cannot do everything that a Dietitian does.
In Australia, anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, even if they haven’t received any formal training or qualifications.
They also don’t have to hold themselves to a regulated
industry standard.
A nutritionist who has done formal training (such as a nutritional science degree) can support public health programs, work in the food industry, and be a nutrition consultant for
community settings.
For one-on-one consults and personalised advice regarding a health concerns, a Dietitian will be better suited for the role.
